Shortly before Wee One was born, I learned something about my family, about a great great grandfather I didn’t know I had. I don’t know a lot about my family history, so this was cool to learn.
My mother gave me a small white bookshelf for Wee One’s room. It has clean lines and is very sturdy, and looks remarkably similar to one my grandpa made for me in high school. The family “legend” is that is was made by Earl, someone I had never heard of before.
Earl was father to my great-grandfather, Wayne. The one who gave me his ’77 LTD II. Earl had been a wheat farmer in South Dakota and he brought his family to Illinois just after the Civil War to give the young ones, like my great-grandfather, Wayne, a chance to live in a more populated area with more opportunities.
Wayne was married to Tilly, who had come to Illinois when she was a girl from Bochum, Germany, when the Prussians invaded.
