Christmas Memories

Tonight’s memories are brought to you by Christmas Eve.

When I was growing up, my family was very involved in the music at the church services. Plus we listened to Christmas music all the time.

Mannheim Steamroller was a popular choice; I think we even saw them live a time or two.

This particular song is always calls up strong feelings for me, good feelings I wish I could pass on to Wee One.

I remember sitting in the backseat of the car listening to it. It is so beautiful it made me cry, both then and tonight. I felt so much love; I felt the accomplishment of finishing something I (with my family) had worked and planned for for so long; I felt satisfaction with the end of the year.

Tonight, I listened to it while holding WO’s hand. Now, I am laying in the living room with her asleep in my arms, my nose in her hair. Creating new memories for me, good associations for her, still all rooted in love.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it, and peaceful greetings to those that don’t.

Day 6 – F

F – Favorite song:

How do I pick just one!? It depends on my mood, on my environment… Sometimes I feel like “Killing In The Name Of” by Rage Against The Machine, especially when I’m angry. Charlie Boy, Lumineers. One, U2. Flower, Moby. Piece by Piece, Kelly Clarkson. Magic, Coldplay. Pendulum, Pearl Jam. Redemption Song, Bob Marley. Roar, Katy Perry. Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallas by Ralph Vaughn Williams.

What about you?

3 Day Quote Challenge – Day 1

Jess, who is over thereĀ Daring To Jess, nominated me to take part in a three day quote challenge! I hadn’t heard or thought about doing this before, but (little known secret) I used to have a whole recipe box of quotes I liked.

Sadly, I can’t remember many of them now, so I’m just pulling quotes out that are meaningful to me right now.
