Ice Cream Inspiration – Not Really

Day 13 – M

Middle Name

I love my middle name: Kathryn. I love how it’s spelled, I love how unusual it is with my first name. (I rarely meet another Sarah Kathryn.) I love the way it feels to say and hear. My real dad picked it out after Catherine of Aragon.

What about you? Do you like your middle name?

This reminds me of a story about a guy I used to work with. He and his wife knew they were having a boy and they had a few post-it notes with different names on them as they were considering which one. Finally they settled on Henry, and left that one note up to debate a middle name.

On a lark, my friend wrote down “Garcia,” as in Jerry, because he was a roadie with them for awhile. His wife approved, and so his name is Henry Garcia. They seem like the most straight-laced family, but still waters run deep, and maybe I just don’t know.

  1. I don’t have a middle name at all. It was not really a thing in Germany when I was born. But my first name is spelled very similarly to your middle name: Kathrin 🙂 Happy Easter!

Okay, your turn.
