I had a story idea the other day. It came through one of my favorite avenues: those little pre-sleep dreams.
You’re in bed and about to fall asleep, and your thoughts are swirling around and connecting differently. Or you wake up from a nap, or you might be sick and groogy and trying to convince yourself to rest more, and your thoughts aren’t really fully formed. They’re sort of swirly and connected-but-not-really.
I call them dreamlets, but a quick google search told me there this is quite normal and even has a name: hypnogogic hallucinations.
But don’t you wish you could harvest them or record them somehow? Better than repeating it to yourself until you wake up.
