Lessons From The American President

No, not the that one.

The one in the movie, The American President! Andrew Shepherd is the president and talks with his daughter about the Constitution. He says, “This is exciting stuff. It’s about who we are and what we want.”

Tonight, I went to my first town hall meeting (an empty chair session, as our Senator doesn’t do town halls because “people yell at him.”) and, on my drive home, heard a story on National Public Radio about how many people are seeking out constitution scholarship to determine what exactly are these “checks” in the “checks and balances?”

I am now one of them and now understand how it could be described as “exciting stuff.”
