A friend of mine went to a 90’s party this past week. Get that? A 90’s party. Like we used to go to 60’s parties or 80’s parties. Dressing up like the “90’s” is a thing now.
I bring it up because I find myself binge watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Netflix. I didn’t watch it when it was on in the ’90s, given that it was spawned by a Luke Perry movie.
There are so many things I miss about the 90s that I hope to see return. Baby doll dresses – I think those are back. Spaghetti strap tees – I loved those things. Sunflowers everywhere. (Like, in print. Not the scent.) Van Gogh would have been so happy. And I think I’ve seen shortalls come back, which I love. Shorts/overalls – everybody wins!
And guess what I saw at Michael’s the other day? Charms.
That’s actually a little more ’80s, but my internal kid gets so excited when I look at these and realize I can buy every cute little one: I don’t have to just pick one or two.
Sometimes adulthood rocks.
The 90’s are so indistinct to me. I can’t form it into a “decade” the way I can with the 60’s, 70’s, or 80’s.
It’s like that for me with the oughts. It’s just a blur of blond streaks, skinny jeans and bad pop.
