Road Trip Landmarks

I drove back from St. Louis to C-bus yesterday, ending a long weekend with Wee One and my folks, and a cousin’s bridal shower. Since the beginning of this year, I have made this drive every other month or so, usually alone with WO. It’s six hours, but always becomes longer when we stop to run around and/or get food.

On the drive, there are several “landmarks” I look for on the way that sort of signal to me where I am, and I’m sharing them with you today.

The big cross, close to the IL/IN border. Because, you know, ‘Murica.

This is a common sight, usually pretty early in the journey. (I time our leaving to just before her nap.) I would do it at nighttime, but I have talked about doing that once before, and never again.

Harley Davidson, because Midwest. This is slightly away from the cross.

The stadium in Indianapolis. This is how I know I’m halfway. You now how I said I try to time it around Wee One’s naps? What I actually try to do is leave early enough that we don’t have stop to eat until here, and then she sleeps most of the rest of the trip. That never works.

This is a poor picture, but it’s totally random candle shop. There is nothing else near it and its built up like a kitchy castle. That’s melting.

“Welcome to Ohio.” Google maps tells me.

This is close to the border of Ohio, and I always notice it because that’s my friend’s name.

*I know this isn’t officially a “wordless” Wordless Wednesday, but here be photos.

Okay, your turn.
