Sleeping with Wee One

Today, I got back from a week long trip back to Missouri with Wee One (WO). We visited some people, including my folks, and then went to a Renaissance Fair out there with some friends – things we haven’t done since Before Times. It was awesome. She quickly made friends from other reenacting families, and I could hear her delighted laughter from across the field.

On our trip, we stayed in different hotels and one air BnB, bed sharing the whole time. We are not strangers to bed sharing, though once she started sleeping in her own room, we haven’t slept together save a few family slumber parties.

Road Trip Landmarks 

I drove back from St. Louis to C-bus yesterday, ending a long weekend with Wee One and my folks, and a cousin’s bridal shower. Since the beginning of this year, I have made this drive every other month or so, usually alone with WO. It’s six hours, but always becomes longer when we stop to run around and/or get food.

On the drive, there are several “landmarks” I look for on the way that sort of signal to me where I am, and I’m sharing them with you today.

The Life and Death of Couchsurfing

Think about an event you’ve attended and loved. Your hometown’s annual fair. That life-changing music festival. A conference that shifted your worldview. Imagine you’re told it will be cancelled forever or taken over by an evil corporate force.

How does that make you feel?

I can think something that really influenced my life, and then it changed for the worse.  Couchsurfing.

CS was this awesome travel website. It was a way to get to know people in a new place and ask ’em questions, get to know shit that’s not in a travel guide, maybe meet up, and also maybe stay with them.
