Today’s daily prompt about the longest stretch of time that I’ve posted to this blog provides me with the end-of-month opportunity I was hoping for: To reflect on this NaBloPoMo, my first Mo of doing it.

My Magical Slippers
When I started to get to know my husband’s family, I realized that I would become the family crocheter. His grandmother had done it before, and had crocheted the family all kinds of gifts, slippers and hats – she even crocheted a blanked for him (or his mother) to give to the woman who would become his wife (me). It’s quite precious.
A Global Sisterhood

It is, of course, always flattering to be nominated for any kind of award, It is especially flattering to receive a nomination for an award such as the “Sisterhood of the World.” It appears as though this Sisterhood is shared by bloggers worldwide who share a commitment to the pursuit of human rights and social justice. It is all the more flattering to be considered one of this company with the nomination from a blogger as social aware and socially/politically engaged as nida, from on the road to inkrichment.
The Art of Sleeping in Public
I know; I’m an adult. I’m not a kid anymore, and I’m actually carrying a kid right now. All of these things means that I need to go to bed earlier and gets lots of sleep.
It usually doesn’t happen, even despite my best intentions, and I find myself making it through a workday by…. supplementing that sleep in other ways.
Evelyn, the Warrior
Wee Evelyn awoke from her afternoon nap and blinked into the afternoon sunlight, trying to orient herself. The unmoving puppy Pa was there, the blanket ja-ja was there… where was her ninny, her pacifier?
Clutching ja-ja ever tighter, she looked down, hoping to spot it down by her feet. She kicked aside the bootie that had come off her foot to clear out a potential hiding place, to no avail. She exchanged a worried glance with Pa, who told her with a look that he didn’t know where it was either.
Take a Humor Break – Go To Math Class!
There is a you tube sequence of videos that my supervisor found about a year ago. Called Kid Snippets, they are short little videos of adults (I think they’re brothers) acting out a dialogue spoken by kids, I believe their own children. So it’s a family affair! These particular videos are a part of a greater whole that the brothers do, I believe, according to their website. I have not looked up the other videos yet, and wanted to share with you one that I think is the best, IMHO. Math class.
Do enjoy.
What Would You Say To Your 10-Years-Ago Self?
I believe my letter would go along these lines:
Well met, 10-years-ago-me!
How good it is to see you looking so well! I know, you don’t feel like you’re well, but you’ll get on track. It’ll be okay. I just wanted to tell you of a few things that may help over the next decade.

Tin Soldiers and Nixon Coming
I was raised in and have spent most of my life in or around St. Louis. I love this city, and it’s county. Having said that, I’m going to write truthfully and admit that my city, to its detriment, is fucked up in some bass-ackward ways. It is highly segregated, both along class and race lines. Reblog: 10 Memorable ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ Books
While I read these when I was a child, they really became important to me a few years ago, when a girlfriend and I would read them aloud to each other, adding our own little twists and details to the different adventures.
Since this author has passed, she and I have begun talking about taking over the task of writing books of this sort. Perhaps not as mystery-y, but still adventure-y.
Did you like these books, reader? What kind of adventure would you write about?
Being published through the 80s and early 90s, anyone growing up in those decades have fond memories of the Choose Your Own Adventure stories. Not only were they a neat concept but they had such a massive range of titles you could find something fresh and exciting to get into, even without the re-readability of the multiple endings. On 9th November this year the original publisher and one of the main authors, R.A. Montgomery, passed away aged 78. With some 250 books available in the original series this is not a definitive list of the best 10, but 10 that I remember fondly.
You Are a Millionaire
Please disregard the strange man in the bushes to the left.
Not considered one of the best in the series, it was unique for it’s more realistic take on the concept. While playing baseball with your friends you stumble across a satchel bag…
