Of all the things a Stallone flick can offer an audience, profound depth is not often among them. Yet a hidden gem about relationships in the first Rocky film makes it an exception. (One that proves the rule? You decide.)
At one point in the movie, Rocky is talking to a friend and trying to explain why he likes his love interest. He struggled and just sums it so: “I dunno, she’s got gaps, I got gaps, together we fill gaps.”
He isn’t perfect, she isn’t perfect, but together, they work well. They fill gaps. Cohiba and I often quote this to each other, because we think the other fills gaps in us as well. Maybe not a soulmate, and definitely not perfection, but we fill gaps.

I feel like my partner fills a gap too. Great post.
