My daughter is of an age that she likes princesses and sometimes they came to different parties she attends. Just before Christmas, Anna and Elsa from Frozen came to a local Christmas party, and she was quite taken with their pretty dresses. I took pictures of her with both of them and posted them.
Not long after, I got a text from a guy I train Jiu Jitsu with. “Who is that blond with the picture with Wee One?
I thought he was taking about me at first. I’m blond. I take a lot of photos with WO. I take my jewelry off for Jitz and am often photographed not wearing a wedding ring. He’s friends with my husband (and a lower belt) so I thought it was a little weird, but I thought he was kidding.
I started to write something playful back, then he sent me the picture to which he was referring. Ah. So I said, “Well, that’s Elsa. Duh.”
He was mystified. “I feel like there’s a reference to something Disney that I’m unaware of.”
This made me snort because of course he’s unaware of a Disney character. It made me realize how different things are for me right now as a parent. Which is okay, but I thought it was hilarious. So I played like it was serious. Because, really, she’s the queen, dude. Show some respect.
I sent him a video to “Let It Go” and dared him to listen to it out loud. He declined. Wimp.
Also, from now one, I think I”m going to invite my single teammates to any future WO’s princess parties.
