This morning, while waiting (and waiting and waiting…) in line at the DMV (I lost my Washington license today; boo-hoo) I read, in one of my local parenting groups, about a creepy dude at the park skulking around the kids. Another mom was like, oh, was it this guy? And had a whole other story. They were two different creepers, and represent but a drop in the bucket of all the creepers out there, I’m sure.
Existential Question
Summer fun worth mosquito bites? Yes.
The Proper Use For A Tiki Torch* And a Pinterest Win
Here at Casa In-Laws, I have been wanting to craft a little something for Wee One to play around and under in the backyard, something that will shield her and make the planned communityTM space a little more unique.

What is it about a black and white photo that is so beautiful?
Re: Thoughts on Pocahontas — Disney in your Day
One of the blogs I follow, Disney In Your Day, is reviewing different Disney movies (because I guess she’s seen them all?! That’s a commitment!) and she recently reviewed Pocahontas. This is particularly timely for me because I am showing it to Wee One for the first time.

Our Bedsharing Story – Three PSAs
A friend of mine posted a request for advice about what to do to get sleep while her 10 month old sleeps in the same bedroom. Daughter is starting to keep mom up through the night, and my friend is desperate for sleep.
Ah, how I remember those days. Rather, I remember them for their fog, not so much for what we did. At the time, it felt like it would never end, though looking back, it seems like just a blip in time.
I don’t think I’ve ever talked about our bedsharing story, so I’m going to now. Because we stepped into it quite unintentionally.
You know the little song/poem “Five little monkeys/ jumping on the bed/one fell off and bumped his head.” It’s sung with children and made into little books and movies. Her speech therapist recommended we teach it to her, since she can pick up on and use the words. However…
Not Just Bro
I recently read a twitter storm in which one guy was talking to another about his sexism. (Read about it here.) It was awesome, but something that was slightly distracting was the wide array of names Guy A made up to refer to Guy B, variations on the name “Bro.”
20 Years Later
Today is the 20th anniversary of my car accident.
When I got out of the hospital back then, I wanted to “get so much better” that no one would know anything had happened. I think I meant that I would not know it happened. That I couldn’t tell. That I would forget. I was afraid I was permanently damaged and would never amount to much.
