This is a weekly post I do to highlight blogs or bloggers who have inspired me in some way during this week.
This has been a fun week for me! As a burgeoning Rennie preparing for several weeks of being a Scottish storyteller, the blog Historically Speaking is highly relevant to me. In particular, he includes a post about what he wishes reenactors would start or stop doing, and another about best practices. (From that, I took: Research and Wash your clothes the way it would have been done in the period.)
For both doing research for my Ren Fair role and also for my book, which takes place around the turn of the 20th century in the U.S., I was happy to happen upon Scandalous Women, a blog about women throughout history who were not well-behaved, as the good ones never are. The posts are interesting, and there are lots of other blogs to connect to!
Finally, a coworker told me about the blog Social Jerk, written by a snarky social worker. Because some of the crap we see is funny, y’all. Maybe some of it is gallows humor, maybe even a lot of it, but it’s funny. I should be more snarky when I talk about my job.
What do you think of these selections? Did you like them too? What did you find this week?
