If we were having coffee, it would be hot, but we would enjoy it outside: it has been deliciously cool for the past several days, which is welcome. I have enjoyed, though, during the really hot days, bicycling Wee One to the splash park or letting her play in a little pool I bought her, or playing with our neighbor’s when they set a pool out. While we’re living at Casa In-Laws, we are set securely in the ‘burbs, but to this end, it’s actually kind of nice!
Inspiration for this came from the Daring To Live Fully blog I featured in the round-up not long ago.
Many many moons ago, Hugh Jackman would have been the only one. Over time, though, I think my tastes have changed. (Although I still love him and think he’s a capital fellow – from what I can tell.)
After a jaunt back to my folks and some weekends being a Rennie, I am back to once again, Share My World! This is a weekly challenge hosted by Cee, and I encourage you to check out other world’s! How often are we truly let into them, eh?
What is something that people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
It’s Ren Fair season, and I am again surrounded by creative people acting and playing like we are in the renaissance. I’m teaching people how to spin wool, smelling the blacksmith’s fires next to me and hearing the lilting accent of an insult. I love these days.
I really like the concept behind Positive Parenting, so I borrowed the book with the same title by Rebecca Eanes about it, and want to mention some things that I don’t want to forget, some things I hope to have with Wee One.
You are young at any age if you are planning for tomorrow. – Anonymous
Write youthful characteristics everyone should preserve. What bring out your playful side?
Playing with Wee One every day has given me a lot of time and inspiration to think about a question like this. One characteristic that I think brings out youthfulness is curiosity – wanting to investigate it all. What happens when I poke this stick into mud? What happens when I break apart this big mushroom? Then watch the results of these questions with wonderment and a wish to seek out more.
I have been meaning to do this again for the past several weeks, and time goes by and I start to feel constricted by a world unshared, by other worlds I don’t observe. For this week, the proper beginning of a magical summer, let’s Share Our Worlds!
What is the most famous landmark or building you have ever seen?
After last year’s NaBloPoMO, I had so much fun hopping other blogs and talking to other writers that I set a goal for myself to do at least two more months of posting-a-day. I just did April and will do at least one more, so to help with this, I’m doing a round up of interesting blog prompts.
A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new. -Albert Einstein
Describe the best mistake you’ve made and all the things you’ve learned from that mistake.
Well, I think I’ve said before, I don’t necessarily believe in mistakes because everything that has happened in my life has culminated in me being here right now in this place, and its good.
I have a funny and embarrassing story about this that I’ll tell you soon. I promise.
If we were having coffee, we would lament about Chris Cornell’s passing. I didn’t realize he had a five octave range, but he did. I knew he was a powerful vocalist, but jeez. And his voice soundtracked a lot of my formative memories, and I hoped to see him as an old lady, an old rocker onstage.
So this means Eddie Vedder is the last leading man of this cohort (Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/Nirvana/Alice in Chains) to still be alive. I have to see him. And they all died of suicide. Listening to this, one of my favorite Soundgarden songs, it seems logical.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that Wee One’s speech therapist said she’s doing well and making noticeable improvements. I think she is, but I’m her mommy: I think she’s perfect anyway. It’s just nice to hear my high opinion of validated.
I know this is random, but I hate hate hate the phrase “food porn.” It sounds so nasty, and usually, the thing in the photo isn’t that great! Even if it’s tasty, I can’t imagine a photograph exciting my taste buds. My imagination doesn’t even excite my taste buds. Tasting something excites my taste buds.
What about you? What do you think of “food porn?” What music was important to you through the years?
