Jess, who is over there Daring To Jess, nominated me to take part in a three day quote challenge! I hadn’t heard or thought about doing this before, but (little known secret) I used to have a whole recipe box of quotes I liked.
Sadly, I can’t remember many of them now, so I’m just pulling quotes out that are meaningful to me right now.
Earlier this week, I had an interaction with a family member that sent me down a shame spiral. It sucked, and every day I’ve been feeling a little bit better. One day, this line was one of the things that made me feel better.
I first learned it from the U2 song on Achtung Baby, and I loved Achtung Baby.
You can swallow, you can spit, you can throw it up or choke on it…You know that your time is coming ’round so don’t let the bastards grind you down. (Acrobat – See below)
Bono sang the beginning of this with such venom and anger, much the way I was feeling at the time, and then the last line felt really good in that minute.
As it happens, I wanted to know the origin of this phrase and I googled it. It was originally developed during the 2nd World War in the Latin: “illegitimi nil carborundum” (but one of the translations). cite, or cite
So, now I’m going to nominate three more people to see what they come up with! Today, that will be:
These are among my favorite bloggers and worth checking out. These are the “rules.”
- 3 quotes over 3 days
- Thank the person who nominated you
- 3 nominees each day to complete the challenge
- Inform the nominees
Good luck! I look forward to seeing your favourite quotes.
I’m so glad you decided to do the challenge! Such a big fan of U2, great choice of quote ❤
Great quote. It’s sadly very fitting for me. Not sure if that’s more a commentary on the world or my relationship to it… Thanks for the nomination. Cool to see my name there with such proficient, sincere bloggers. Will have to give some serious thoughts to the quotes.
Oh Sreejit, “proficient and sincere?” You most certainly belong among them. Hugs.
