Write about the best opportunity you’ve been given and how you made the most of that opportunity.

The best opportunity I have been given was services with Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation. Voc rehab is a program run through the state department of education, and it is one that is meant to help people with disabilities live and work independently.

In the early days after the car accident and coma, when I was in rehab for head injury, I was offered the chance to apply for assistance through that program. At the time, though, I was so scared of being “damaged,” that I didn’t even want to acknowledge what was going on with me. I was fine. It was fine. I could handle it. Just let me get back to school and it’ll be fine. That was my mindset.

Acceptance was hard to come by.

Too Much Is Not Enough

I bought a “Be Inspired” journal from one of the end cap displays at Barnes and Noble yesterday. It is so hard for me to NOT buy everything in a bookstore, but I normally find those kinds of journals trite. However, this one seemed different: a quote and short writing prompt that is actually interesting! and a quick flip through showed they were interesting prompts. For today:

I had a feeling it wasn’t quite progressing as it should be, and today, after a speech evaluation, I find I am right. I’m a little heart sore about it.

Day 23 – V

Vacation Destination

You guys!! I think we’re going to Disney World at the end of the month! For those of you who don’t know, after a far away trip when I was five, I didn’t start going to Disney World until I was with my now-husband Cohiba, who took me on a getaway weekend during a particularly year of grad school in 2011. (It was this weekend, according to Facebook memories – six years.)
