When I was a kid, more than looking forward to the fireworks on the 4th of July, I looked forward to the 5th. In the temporary coolness of the early morning, I would climb onto my bike and go on a treasure hunt.
Weekend Coffee Share #43
If we were having coffee, it would be iced, because unlike when we were meeting in Seattle, it is too hot to drink coffee comfortably. It would be okay if we were sitting inside, but it’s going to be so warm today that we wanted to sit outside while it is still morning and still nice.
A Post About Toddler Struggles
I never wanted to write a post like this, about struggling with a toddler. But writing about this feels good. Maybe it will give you a laugh? A scene that is becoming an all too common at Casa In-Laws.
I am helping Wee One get breakfast, and I open the fridge to pull stuff out. She wants some cheese. Its wrapped in a plastic wrapper, like string cheese. If I try to open it before I give it to her, she screams “NOOOOO!”
Learn How To Juggle And Other Things
I mean, literally, juggle!
I have some scarves that I juggle that I got from one of those learn-to-juggle kit. (It was on clearance.) Wee One has seen me do it many times, and today, she picked up two of the scarves and threw them in the air and waved her arms around. Like she was juggling. She even made the little noises that I make when I’m doing it. #Killmenowsocute!
I know that toddlers are sponges and they do what they see. I am a little touched that she is imitating me and I’m thinking about other things I want her to do, to see me do.
Weekend Coffee Share #42

If we were having coffee, it would be hot, but we would enjoy it outside: it has been deliciously cool for the past several days, which is welcome. I have enjoyed, though, during the really hot days, bicycling Wee One to the splash park or letting her play in a little pool I bought her, or playing with our neighbor’s when they set a pool out. While we’re living at Casa In-Laws, we are set securely in the ‘burbs, but to this end, it’s actually kind of nice!
Three Celebrity Crushes
Inspiration for this came from the Daring To Live Fully blog I featured in the round-up not long ago.
Many many moons ago, Hugh Jackman would have been the only one. Over time, though, I think my tastes have changed. (Although I still love him and think he’s a capital fellow – from what I can tell.)
Share Your World – What Would You Unlearn If You Could?
After a jaunt back to my folks and some weekends being a Rennie, I am back to once again, Share My World! This is a weekly challenge hosted by Cee, and I encourage you to check out other world’s! How often are we truly let into them, eh?
What is something that people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?

Brainstorming IRL
It’s Ren Fair season, and I am again surrounded by creative people acting and playing like we are in the renaissance. I’m teaching people how to spin wool, smelling the blacksmith’s fires next to me and hearing the lilting accent of an insult. I love these days.
Positive Parenting Book Review and Tips
I really like the concept behind Positive Parenting, so I borrowed the book with the same title by Rebecca Eanes about it, and want to mention some things that I don’t want to forget, some things I hope to have with Wee One.
I Have Found The Fountain Of Youth!
You are young at any age if you are planning for tomorrow. – Anonymous
Write youthful characteristics everyone should preserve. What bring out your playful side?
Playing with Wee One every day has given me a lot of time and inspiration to think about a question like this. One characteristic that I think brings out youthfulness is curiosity – wanting to investigate it all. What happens when I poke this stick into mud? What happens when I break apart this big mushroom? Then watch the results of these questions with wonderment and a wish to seek out more.
