Top 10 Books I Cannot Bring Myself To Finish

I don’t read as much as I want to anymore.  (Pshaw – thanks, Wee One! 😉 But I want to be, and I want to be a good writer, something that is helped by reading good books. I should want to finish the books on this list. They just don’t engage me. I try to finish them, and I could force my eyes to the page and force my mind to stay focused on it. But that is valuable reading time, (something I get so little of these days), and do I really want to spend it on something I have to *force* myself to do?

What’s Your Dream?”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Futures Past.”

Last night, my dearest Cohiba told me that I helped him make his dream come true.  Moving out here with him, doing a job he loves and being in a place he feels challenged and supported has been a dream that has so far not been realized. It made me feel pretty special, honestly, and happy to know he feels so loved.

Neglect Not the Wood-Strewn Path

When I’m feeling down being outside lifts my spirits. The smells, the breeze, the light… Of course, sometimes the breeze is biting and hurts when you sniff, or the light is oppressive or blinding. On those days, I don’t like being outside (Read: January and February).

On those forbidden days, I gaze at photos of lovlier places, such as to the image below, and daydream about them.

Evelyn, the Warrior

Wee Evelyn awoke from her afternoon nap and blinked into the afternoon sunlight, trying to orient herself. The unmoving puppy Pa was there, the blanket ja-ja was there… where was her ninny, her pacifier?

Clutching ja-ja ever tighter, she looked down, hoping to spot it down by her feet. She kicked aside the bootie that had come off her foot to clear out a potential hiding place, to no avail. She exchanged a worried glance with Pa, who told her with a look that he didn’t know where it was either.
