Wee One will be four months old tomorrow. This morning, Cohiba said: she’ll be a quarter of a year old tomorrow. I threw a pillow at him for reminding me she’s older than I want her to be. (We’ve been living in a hotel room until the corporate housing comes available tomorrow, and, just as a side note, hotel room living isn’t as fun as I thought it would be!)
What Makes A Mystery?
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “A Mystery Wrapped in an Enigma.”
This daily prompt tasks us to write about something most people don’t know about me. As I sat down to start it, I thought: this is kind of arrogant, just writing about myself. But what is blogging, really?
“Don’t Be Sad That It’s Over, Be Happy That It Happened”
I’m not normally one who embraces such an idea when a big change happens in my life, but it’s been going through my head a lot in this last week before we move.

How I Procrastinate? I’ll Tell You Later
When shit gets heavy and there is a lot to do, I am very good at bearing down and prioritizing the tasks and working myself to the bone to get it done. Key example: Finishing grad school while working full time.
When I want to put something off, I have trouble doing so.
Make a Joyful Noise
Having a baby means I don’t get to create and make art like I used to, at least not as much as I want, but I find I’m creating in different ways. In particular, musical ways. There are lot I sing to her every day, songs that fit into different kinds of categories.
Love It When God Talks To Me
My mom is a woman of great faith, and she has often talked about hearing things from God or the Virgin Mary. I’ve had one experience in which I believe God or the Holy Spirit spoke to me, and while I know I could be wrong, I believe I’m right. I think I had another one of those experiences last night.
Top 6 List Of Things I Cannot Do One-Handed
Last week I made a list of things I can do one-handed, specifically, while holding a child. While I was doing that, I also thought of things I could not do.

Ren Fair With A Baby
This is my first Renfaire with the Wee One and the first day was difficult for many reasons. But it’s such an important part of my life that I can’t bear to stop doing it. Like all other things with my Wee One, it’s figuring out how to adjust.
It takes special kind of planning. I’m still breastfeeding so I don’t have to bring special food for her, but I do have to make period appropriate arrangements for naps and physical activity.
And garb, of course. I loved making her garb.
But you need to drink ample water in the days approaching fair, as well as the day of, and be plenty rested.
Top 10 List of Things I Can Do One-Handed
I recently began a new career as a stay at home mother with a two month old and I spend a lot of time with her in my arms. Necessity is the mother of invention, and out of necessity, I have become proficient at accomplishing a number of tasks one-handed. Lest you wonder what’s possible, I have taken the liberty of writing them down for you! They’re backward in order of approximate difficulty:

Making God Laugh
“If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.”
I don’t like Woody Allen at ALL, but his quote has been in my mind recently. Cohiba has tentatively accepted a really sweet job offer… In Seattle.
